Benton and Franklin counties boast 300 days of sunshine, are home to 3 major rivers and have hundreds of swimming pools both at homes and available to the public. Our climate and the large number of water bodies for swimming make the health and safety of these activities a priority.

The Water Recreation Program protects public health by working with owners and operators of public and semi-public water recreation facilities to prevent drowning, illnesses and injuries. Approximately 190 facilities in Benton and Franklin are permitted and inspected to insure they are operated safely and in compliance with state rules.

The Benton-Franklin Health District also works as a consultant for homeowners providing needed information on the proper maintenance and safety needs of home pools and hot tubs.
