The Importance of CHA and CHIP in Public Health
A Community Health Assessment (CHA) is a part of the community health improvement process. It helps us learn about the health of people in our community. It is a long, in-depth, and very collaborative project with the goal of finding out about pressing health-related needs and assets that may be leveraged to support those needs in a community.
The results of a CHA are used to guide strategic planning and resource allocation to improve the health of the community through a Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). A CHIP is a three- to five-year, systematic effort to address public health issues.
BFHD uses NACCHO's MAPP 2.0 framework for community health improvement, which is a three-phase cycle centering community involvement and health equity.
